↣ Revisiting the Intro Guide
You can revisit the Intro Guide / Tutorial at any time.
The intro guide interactively leads you through the day-to-day usage of the timer:
You can revisit the Intro Guide / Tutorial at any time by clicking through the Settings screen:
From the settings screen, scroll down to the bottom, and tap view intro / enso guide:
↣ Jotting down a quick note
So that you can go on with your meditation.
While the timer is ticking, the note-taking icon will appear in the top corner. Use this so that you can jot
down interesting things that might come to mind, if that should happen while you're starting a
meditation:
The note-taking icon is intentionally less visually-noticable. If you know it's there, you can spot it, but
otherwise, the design of timer is intended to clear distractions away while you are practicing.
↣ Finishing at your original time
So you don't miss your appointments.
When you unpause the timer in countdown mode (e.g. after jotting a note), there will be an option to finish the
meditation at the original time (instead of going for the entire intended duration).
This may be useful when you need to arrive on time for an appointment, and doing so takes precedence over
meditating for as much time as you’d originally intended.
As such, it is a practical compromise between life and mindfulness. We need our time for ourselves, but we also
want to support our creative process, and being able to finish on time without worry. In cultures where
punctionality is important, we try to let ourselves be at ease in the rest of that meditation, while honoring our
time commitments.
↣ Countdown settings
Cooldown, warmup, and periodic chimes.
In the settings panel, you can adjust additional settings for the countdown mode:
↣ Repeat settings
Warmup and double-tap to reset.
In the settings panel, there are additional settings for the repeat mode:
The double-tap to reset option allows you to quickly start the timer from the top. You literally tap
twice in the center of the enso, while it’s ticking down. This option is useful when you’re using the timer
to practice yoga.
↣ Count-up settings
Warmup and periodic chimes; automatically enable on weekends.
In the settings panel, there are additional settings for the count-up mode:
The count-up on weekends option will automatically switch the timer to count-up mode, on the weekends,
if you previously had it in countdown mode during the week.
↣ Colorways settings
Choose your colors!
In the settings panel, you can set which colorways are displayed in the timer’s colorways menu:
Tap on the right-caret icon, to the right of each colorway slot, if you want to replace it with a
different colorway.
Moonstone Chimes will change the colorway every week. You can toggle this feature on and off with the periodically
rotate colors option.
The inspiration for the color-cycling feature comes from the practice of Iyengar yoga, which shifts focus to a
different category of yoga asanas as the practice proceeds through the month. Standing asanas are the focus
during the first week, followed by forward extensions in the second, backward extensions in the third, and finally
restorative. But of course, you should use this option however which way you like.
↣ Timer presets slots
Customize your timer shortcuts.
The timer presets menu can be customized with your own presets, from the settings screen:
If you want to save the current timer mode (and its associated settings) in a slot, just tap on the slot, and a
dialog will pop up, asking you to confirm your choices.
↣ Ergonomics and comfort
Customize the UI to your comfort.
There are a number of UI settings that can be adjusted according to your preference:
Changing the handedness will move the timer’s icon and menus from right to left, and vice-versa:
The enso scroll sensitivity allows you to change how quickly the enso-adjustment will respond when you dial
the timer up and down:
Moonstone Chimes will try to warn you if the volume is too low for you to hear the chimes. You can adjust the
threshold of this warning in the adjust low volume warning settings page. The screen will indicate the current
volume, and the volume threshold. If you start a meditation with the system volume below the threshold, Ochre
Wood will flash its low-volume warning.
